The CCTV cameras near the murder site of Muhammad Javed Butt in Lahore were found to be non-operational.

Muhammad Javed Butt, the brother-in-law of Khawaja Tareef alias Teefi Butt, one of the main suspects in the Amir Balaj murder case, was shot dead in Lahore last week.

According to police sources, the inactive Safe City cameras have impeded the retrieval of clear footage from the crime scene.

The murder investigation has now been taken up by four teams from the CIA and the Investigation Wing, who are working together to trace the killers.

Police officials have revealed that a 30 bore pistol was used in the attack, with gunshots to the right side of the abdomen proving fatal.

The shooters reportedly began tailing Javed Butt from the Iqbal Town area, and efforts are ongoing to trace their route and determine their post-attack whereabouts.

The investigation continues as authorities attempt to overcome the challenges posed by the lack of surveillance footage.

Earlier this year, Ameer Balaj Tipu was killed at a marriage ceremony in a housing society by Muzzafar Hussain, an old gunman of Khawaja Tareef alias Teefi Butt, over a 30-year-old feud.

Muzzafar was shot dead immediately after Tipu's murder. Prime suspects Khawaja Tareef (Teefi Butt) and Khawaja Aqeel (Gogi Butt) were declared proclaimed offenders. Police suspect Teefi has fled abroad, while Gogi is believed to be hiding within the country.
