Princess Diana's former hairdresser, Richard Dalton, has released a new book offering a unique glimpse into the life of the beloved royal. Dalton, who styled Diana's hair for over a decade, reveals in "It's All About the Hair—My Decade with Diana" that the princess regretted her wedding day hairstyle, calling it a "disaster."
Dalton also shares insights into the ups and downs of Diana's life, from her playful humor and dedication to her sons to the moments of sadness and low self-esteem she experienced during her troubled marriage to Prince Charles. He describes the pressure he felt as the man responsible for the hair of the most photographed woman in the world, and how he only realized the extent of that stress after leaving her employ in 1991.
Despite the challenges, Dalton cherishes his memories of working with Diana and recalls her adventurous spirit when it came to hairstyles. He fondly remembers creating a unique floral look for her using orchids he "pinched" from the hotel they were staying at in Thailand.
The book, co-written with Renae Plant, curator of The Princess Diana Museum, aims to preserve Dalton's valuable memories and offer a more personal perspective on the iconic princess.
