MIANWALI:

Internet services have been suspended for the past week in Mianwali, Kundian, Chashma, Piplan, Harnoli, Daud Khel, Mari Kalabagh and Chakok Pae Khel, causing severe difficulties for the residents.

The suspension of internet services has especially affected online businesses.

According to sources, the services were suspended after an incident in Kalabagh resulted in two deaths and injuries to more than a dozen people. The incident was caused by tensions between two groups.

Despite the passage of a week, the internet services have not been restored yet.

In view of the sensitive situation, Rangers have been deployed in Kalabagh.

District Police Officer Akhtar Farooq issued a message for the citizens of Mianwali, warning them not to share any posts on social media that could promote sectarianism or religious unrest. The Mianwali police would closely monitor all social media and online communication groups.

A meeting held to promote peace and harmony was attended by Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya, Maulana Khawaja Khaleel Ahmed and other religious leaders.

The participants issued a joint statement condemning the Kalabagh incident and emphasising the need for religious leaders to play their role in establishing peace and harmony. It urged the people to make efforts to resolve conflicts and promote peace.
