Child rape accused held

KARACHI:

Judicial Magistrate South granted the police a five-day physical remand of the accused, Waqar, in the case of gang-rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl.

The court heard the case, where the investigating officer stated that the accused's DNA needs testing and further investigation is required. The defense lawyer argued that there is no evidence against the accused of alleged torture. Waqar was arrested yesterday at the bus terminal near Cantt station with the help of CCTV footage. The court granted police a five-day physical remand of Waqar and adjourned the hearing.

A case has been registered against the accused based on the complaint filed by the victim's mother. The investigating officer said other accomplices need to be arrested.
