Comedian Doug Stanhope was arrested during an Instagram livestream from his home in Arizona on Wednesday, August 28th.

While streaming live on Instagram, police officers unexpectedly raided his residence, announcing they had a warrant before entering.

The livestream captured Stanhope being escorted out of his home, forced to move with his hands up and on his knees. Shortly after, another individual was ordered out, and the livestream abruptly ended.

A clip of the arrest was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the user Shroomfactory, leaving fans both confused and concerned. Some believe the arrest is serious, while others speculate it might be a prank.

Stanhope, a stand-up comedian, actor, and podcast host, has a long career in comedy that began in Las Vegas. He eventually settled in Brisbee, Arizona, where he continues to live with his partner, Amy ‘Bingo’ Bingaman.

Politically, Stanhope leans toward libertarianism and once supported the Free State Project, which sought to encourage 20,000 libertarians to migrate to a low-population state to promote libertarian ideas.

Known for his frequent alcohol consumption, Stanhope openly admits to being a heavy drinker and identifies as pro-choice and supportive of drug legalization. He hosts the Doug Stanhope podcast and has released numerous comedy specials and books.
