DJ Akademiks explains SWAT team's involvement in NBA YoungBoy's arrest

"When they went to arrest him, they had to go with SWAT... YB had enough firepower on that mountain," DJ explained.

NBA YoungBoy's legal troubles continue to escalate, with the 24-year-old rapper now facing the possibility of a lengthy prison sentence. 

Earlier this year, YoungBoy was arrested at his Utah home for his involvement in an alleged prescription drug fraud scheme, leading to his current imprisonment. 

At the time, he was already on house arrest, awaiting trial for a federal weapons charge.

Last week, the rapper pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, further complicating his legal situation. 

In a court filing, YoungBoy stated, "I wish to plead guilty to the offense charged, to consent to the disposition of the case in the District of Utah in which I am present and to waive trial in the [Middle District of Louisiana]." His next court hearing is scheduled for September 4.

DJ Akademiks recently discussed YoungBoy's legal issues during a livestream, recounting the intense circumstances surrounding his April arrest. 

According to Akademiks, authorities deployed a SWAT team to apprehend the rapper due to concerns over the potential for armed resistance at his Utah residence. 

"When they went to arrest him, they had to go with SWAT. All types of agencies because, again, YB had enough firepower on that mountain to do a nice ol' standoff," Akademiks explained.

If convicted, NBA YoungBoy could face up to ten years in prison, along with fines and a period of supervised release. 

The rapper's future now hangs in the balance as he awaits his next court appearance.
