Mae Whitman, widely recognized for her role as Amber Holt on NBC's Parenthood, has welcomed her first child and named him after her co-star, Miles Heizer. Whitman made the announcement on Instagram, introducing her son Miles to the world. In a light-hearted tone, she joked, "Not to be a Bieber about it but I too just gave birth to our son, Miles." She continued by expressing her affection for her newborn, describing him as "the kindest, gentlest, smartest, funniest little beebee," adding that he is their "best friend (pretty much exactly like his namesake Uncle Miles”.

Whitman also took a moment to thank those who supported her through the pregnancy and delivery, including the obstetrics and midwifery organization Moxie Birth and Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, California. She expressed her gratitude for the "radical generosity and support" from her circle, concluding her post with, "We are infinitely grateful he chose us as his parents. We love you! We’re so happy!".

The 36-year-old actress starred in Parenthood for six seasons, where she formed a close bond with Heizer, who played her on-screen brother, Drew Holt. The two have remained friends since the series ended in 2015. Whitman first announced her pregnancy in May with a playful Instagram post featuring Heizer and their on-screen mother, Lauren Graham, hinting at her upcoming journey into motherhood
