A24 has successfully acquired the US distribution rights to Luca Guadagnino's highly anticipated film, 'Queer', featuring Daniel Craig in the lead role, as per reported by Deadline.

The film, an adaptation of William S. Burroughs' novel, is set in 1950s Mexico City and portrays the story of an American expat named William Lee. Lee's solitary life takes a turn with the arrival of a young student, Eugene Allerton, who triggers a desire for a meaningful connection.

The film has already generated buzz, with its upcoming world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and subsequent screenings at the Toronto International Film Festival and the New York Film Festival's Spotlight Gala. The deal with A24, known for its successful handling of edgy and unconventional films, solidified after the movie was screened to potential buyers in June.

'Queer' was shot in Cinecitta, Rome, shortly after Guadagnino's previous film, 'Challengers,' which proved to be a box office success. The film also stars Drew Starkey, Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman, and others.

The acquisition by A24 promises a theatrical release for 'Queer', offering audiences a chance to experience this unique and compelling story on the big screen.
