Armie Hammer, the 37-year-old actor known for roles in  "Call Me By Your Name" and "The Social Network,"  has sold his truck, attributing the decision to the high cost of gasoline and ongoing financial struggles. This comes despite Hammer's connection to a vast family fortune built on the oil industry by his great-grandfather, the oil tycoon Armand Hammer.

In a candid Instagram post, Hammer shared that the escalating fuel costs in Los Angeles made it untenable to keep his truck, a vehicle he cherished deeply. He has since switched to a more fuel-efficient hybrid vehicle, reflecting significant changes in his lifestyle amid financial constraints

The irony of Hammer's situation is poignant, given his family’s historical ties to the oil business. His great-grandfather, Armand Hammer, was an oil magnate who led Occidental Petroleum to substantial success. This legacy makes Hammer's current predicament—struggling to afford gasoline—a stark contrast to the oil-rich path his family once blazed.

The downward spiral in Hammer’s career began following allegations in 2021 that included accusations of sexual misconduct, which not only impacted his professional life but also reportedly led to him being cut off from his family's wealth. Despite the oil-derived fortune, Hammer has been left to navigate these hardships largely on his own.

As he approaches his 38th birthday, Hammer is looking to reinvent his life, starting with small yet symbolic steps like the vehicle switch. This chapter marks an attempt to move forward amidst ongoing financial and personal challenges, highlighting the complex dynamics of wealth, family ties, and public perception.
