Excise department cracks down on vehicles violating regulations

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Irfan Nawaz Memon has ordered an audit of all 66 private housing societies in Islamabad district, while action has already been taken against police revolving lights, non-payment of token tax, non-sample number plates and 400 vehicles with black objects.

A meeting regarding revenue matters was held in the chair of DC Islamabad on Tuesday in which the ADCR Imtiaz Janjua and revenue officers participated. The DC directed that the fees charged by all 66 private housing societies be audited. Additionally, the implementation of the decisions taken in the last meeting and the pending revenue cases of Islamabad were reviewed. Implementation of measures against revenue targets, digitisation of land and records were also reviewed.

The DC directed that the pending revenue cases of the citizens should be disposed of as soon as possible. The digital policy made regarding the revenue is meant to create convenience for the citizens. The ADCR was directed to report the cases on a daily basis to the Revenue Department. The DC also asked that action should be taken against revenue staff who hang up cases without valid reasons.

Following the meeting, the Excise and Taxation Department conducted an operation headed by Assistant Excise Officer, Asif Shah, against vehicles using non-sample number plates, tinted glasses and police revolving lights and not paying token tax. Action was taken against 66 vehicles for these violations. Similarly, action has been taken against 99 vehicles for driving without registered number plates.

Additionally, the registration of 53 vehicles was suspended for violation of the law. The police lights of three vehicles using police revolving lights were removed and their vehicles were seized by the government. Token tax was collected from 200 vehicles that did not pay token tax with fine. This operation will continue as per the order of DC.
