Rain cools Lahore as monsoon spell begins in Punjab
Light to heavy rain in various parts of Lahore has brought relief from the intense heat and humidity, creating a more pleasant atmosphere across the city.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that the monsoon rains have begun across Punjab and are expected to continue until August 29.
In response to the rain, the Managing Director of WASA has instructed all operational staff to remain in the field to address any issues.
Lahore Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza also activated all relevant departments, directing assistant commissioners, WASA, and LWMC to stay on alert and be present in the field.
He emphasized the immediate drainage of rainwater from these routes and instructed that all emergency camp staff and machinery remain fully alert, with all generators on standby.
Additionally, Raza directed that all screens at disposal stations be kept completely clear to ensure smooth operations.
Meanwhile, a road sinkhole developed near Bhekewal Chowk, opposite Farooq Hospital, along Dubai Mor.
Raza specifically ordered WASA officials to keep de-watering sets and machinery operational around the Chehlum procession routes and the vicinity of Data Darbar.
The relevant authorities have been notified, according to Lahore Traffic Police.
