Isaac Hayes' family sues Trump for $3 million over song use

Isaac Hayes' family has been granted an emergency hearing to seek an injunction against Donald Trump over the use of Hayes' song "Hold On, I'm Coming" at his rallies. The family is demanding $3 million in licensing fees for the repeated use of the song between 2022 and 2024.

In a tweet, Isaac Hayes III, the son of Hayes and a representative of his estate, shared the news and directed a message at Trump: "See you in court." Hayes III also noted that if Trump had used any of his IP without permission, he would sue him.

The Federal Court has granted the Hayes family's request for an emergency hearing to secure injunctive relief. Trump, the RNC, Trump for President Inc. 2024, Turning Point, and The NRA are required to appear in court on September 3rd, 2024.

This is not the first time the Trump campaign has faced backlash from artists whose music has been used at rallies. Celine Dion's team has stated that Trump used "My Heart Will Go On" without authorization, while The Smiths' Johnny Marr and Foo Fighters have also made it clear they did not consent to Trump using their songs.
