LAHORE:

The Manawan Sports Complex project started in 2021 is still waiting for its completion.

In the Manawan area of Lahore, the long-abandoned sports complex has left the dreams of thousands of young people in limbo.

According to a local resident, these aspiring athletes aim to bring fame to their country through sports, but the incomplete project has buried their hopes.

The first phase of the Manawan Sports Complex was approved in 2021, with an allocation of over Rs225 million in the budget to draw the younger generation to sports.

Although the construction began, the project remains unfinished, reflecting the government's priorities. The complex, spanning over 30 acres, was meant to feature cricket, hockey and football stadiums, as well as jogging tracks. However, it now lies in ruins.

Local residents emphasize that this sports complex is crucial for Wagah town, as it will provide much-needed space for youth to engage in sports and stay away from drugs.

Many young peopleof the locality, inspired by Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem, dream of making Pakistan famous through sports.
