Naomi Ackie reveals hilarious encounter with Lenny Kravitz on set of Blink Twice

Naomi Ackie recently shared a humorous and unforgettable encounter she had with rock legend Lenny Kravitz while on the set of the thriller Blink Twice. The movie, which was co-written and directed by Lenny’s daughter, Zoë Kravitz, brought together a talented and star-studded cast, but it was a behind-the-scenes moment that left Ackie both flustered and amused.

Ackie, who plays the lead role of Frida in the film, recounted how she was staying at the same resort in Mexico where the movie was being filmed. One morning, she opened her door only to find the iconic "Are You Gonna Go My Way?" singer standing right outside. Completely taken by surprise, Ackie instinctively shut the door in his face to gather her composure before reopening it. “I’d never met him before. I opened my bedroom door, and Lenny's just there. He was like, ‘Hi, you must be Naomi. I'm Lenny.’ I was like — I shut the door,” Ackie recalled with laughter.

Once she had a moment to calm down, Ackie reopened the door and introduced herself properly, jokingly telling the story later as one of the most surreal moments of her career. Zoë Kravitz, the film’s director, also found humor in the situation, teasing that Ackie should have asked her father, "So, why are you outside my door?"

The connection between the Kravitz family and the film didn’t stop there. Zoë’s mother, actress Lisa Bonet, also spent time on set during the production. Bonet’s presence added a unique dynamic to the experience, as Zoë fondly recounted a moment when they released butterflies that were used in a scene. In a whimsical turn, one butterfly became particularly attached to Bonet, even perching on her face as she went about her day. Zoë captured playful moments of her mother eating French fries and brushing her teeth with the butterfly still resting on her, showcasing the close bond between mother and daughter.

As filming progressed, Bonet became a valuable sounding board for Zoë during the editing process. Zoë shared that her mother provided insightful feedback on different versions of the film, offering constructive criticism that was both supportive and professional. “My mother had seen a few different versions of it, giving me great notes, and feedback, and all of that,” Zoë explained. Bonet’s involvement wasn’t just about being a proud parent; she was genuinely invested in the film’s success and provided thoughtful input that Zoë cherished.

Lenny Kravitz, on the other hand, took a more laid-back approach, choosing to trust his daughter’s creative vision without much interference. Zoë shared that when she finally showed the finished film to both of her parents, they were incredibly proud and supportive of her work. “They’re both very proud,” Zoë said, reflecting on how much it meant to her to have her parents’ approval.
