Heavy rains to hit Pakistan from August 26: PMD

The PMD has issued an advisory predicting significant rainfall across various regions of Pakistan.

The Meteorological Department has issued an advisory predicting significant rainfall across various regions of Pakistan from August 26 to 29 as a monsoon rain-bearing system is set to re-enter the country.

In Lahore and other parts of Punjab, the system is expected to bring rain, with the maximum temperature in Lahore likely to hover around 35 degrees Celsius.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert in anticipation of the rains, although the monsoon system currently remains weak in Punjab.

More intense effects are expected in Sindh, where strong monsoon currents are likely to arrive from the night of August 25th or the morning of August 26th.

Karachi is forecasted to experience wind-thunderstorms and scattered heavy to isolated very heavy rainfall with occasional gaps.

Significant rainfall is also expected in districts including Tharparkar, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Jamshoro, Dadu, Kambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, and Larkana from the night of August 25th.

The anticipated rains have raised concerns about potential flooding and disruption in these areas.

Authorities are urging residents to take necessary precautions and stay informed about weather updates during this period, with the PDMA and local authorities on high alert to manage any emergencies that may arise.
