FAISALABAD:

Coordinator to the Prime Minister for the Tajir Dost Scheme, Muhammad Naeem Mir, has announced that the government is reviewing the tax table to alleviate traders' concerns. During a meeting at the DC Office in Faisalabad, he highlighted that the primary aim of the Tajir Dost Scheme is to simplify tax filing for traders. The scheme enables traders to register as filers through a mobile app without needing a consultant, making it easier for non-filers to submit their income tax returns.

Mir assured the traders that the powers of tax collection are being decentralised, allowing the Regional Commissioner of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to review and address tax-related issues in consultation with traders. The proposal to collect taxes on a biannual basis and provide refund facilities was also discussed.

He assured that no notices would be issued by the FBR until the final amendments to the Tajir Dost Scheme are made and urged traders to refrain from protests. Mir clarified that the scheme is solely for income tax registration, with no connection to sales tax or advance tax imposition.
