ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aliya Hamza has submitted a protective bail application in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) concerning cases registered in Faisalabad and Sargodha.

The PTI leader, represented by lawyers Khakan Mir and Ishtiaq A. Khan, filed the application requesting an urgent hearing.

Yesterday, an anti-terrorism court in Gujranwala acquitted Hamza in a case related to the May 9 incidents. Neither Aliya nor her legal team appeared before the court.

On August 7, Aliya was released from Gujranwala Jail after her release orders were submitted earlier.

Aliya was accused of plotting attacks on sensitive installations on 9th May in Cantt area Gujranwala. She was arrested by Gujranwala police after her release from Sargodha jail.

LHC had ordered law enforcement agencies not to arrest Aliyah Hamza, in any new cases without the court's permission until August 29.

LHC's Justice Ali Baqar Najafi issued the ruling while hearing a petition filed by Hamza Jameel, Aliya Hamza's husband, who sought protective bail to prevent further arrests in cases she was unaware of.

"No agency will arrest Aliya Hamza without permission of the Lahore High Court," Justice Najafi declared.

The court also requested a report from the Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Awan by the next hearing date, detailing any First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against Aliya.

On June 7, Gujranwala police arrested Aliya Hamza when she came out of the Sargodha jail after getting bail in three cases registered by Mianwali police.

She had been confined to Sargodha jail since April 2, 2024, as she was framed in four cases registered with Kamar Mushani Police Station in connection with May 9 violence by PTI workers.

Aliya was not nominated at the time of registration of the FIR.
