Thibaut Courtois has publicly announced that he will no longer play for the Belgian national team while Domenico Tedesco remains head coach. In a message posted on social media, Courtois expressed his disappointment and elaborated on the personal and professional differences between himself and Tedesco, stating that his lack of trust in the coach would prevent a cordial environment within the team.

Courtois acknowledged his responsibility in the situation but emphasized that his decision is final. Despite the emotional difficulty of stepping away, he believes that it is in the best interest of the Belgian team to move forward without him, allowing them to focus on future objectives.

Courtois thanked Belgian fans for their support throughout his career, noting the pride and honour he felt in representing his country more than 100 times. However, he stated that his relationship with the team’s management had reached an impasse, and he could no longer contribute effectively under the current leadership.

The Belgian Football Federation has reportedly accepted his position and reasons behind his decision, though Courtois acknowledged that some fans might feel disappointed.

Thibaut Courtois, widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers of his generation, has had an illustrious career both at club and international levels. The Belgian shot-stopper has played for top clubs like Atlético Madrid, Chelsea, and Real Madrid, where he has consistently proven his world-class talent, winning numerous domestic and international titles. Courtois has earned accolades for his impressive reflexes, commanding presence in the box, and game-changing saves.

Courtois's contributions to the Belgian national team have been pivotal, particularly during their deep runs in major tournaments like the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where Belgium finished third, and Courtois won the Golden Glove for the best goalkeeper. His decision to step away from the national team marks the end of an era, and his absence will be deeply felt by his teammates and fans alike.
