FAISALABAD:

Nishatabad police claimed to have arrested a man involved in the murder of a child.

Police spokesman Talish Abbas said on Wednesday that a citizen, Asif, had made a call on the helpline 15 on Tuesday night that his eight-year-old son Tayyab had been missing since the evening under mysterious circumstances.

After receiving the information, City Police Officer (CPO) Kamran Adil constituted a team under the supervision of an SP to ensure immediate recovery of the boy and arrest of those involved in the case.

The team started the investigation and took Waris Ali Sheikh, a resident of Chak 6JB, into custody over suspicion. The suspect, during initial interrogation, confessed to the abduction and murder of the child.

The murderer had thrown the body into fodder crop near Chak 48JB due to fear of arrest.

The police retrieved the corpse, arrested the suspect and said further investigation was in progress.

Meanwhile, the CPO awarded commendation certificates and cash prizes to four police officials for their performance in fighting dacoits.
