The body of a child was found in a car parked in a garage in Tauheed Mohalla, near Khabir Chowk in Block C within the jurisdiction of Ittehad Town police station. Another child was found unconscious in the same vehicle.
The children, identified as three-year-old Usman, son of Abdullah, and three-year-old Samiullah, son of Shafiullah, were cousins. The deceased child's body was sent to Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination, while the unconscious child was shifted to JPMC for treatment.
Ayaz Khan, SHO Ittehad Town police station, said that the two children had been missing since around 12.30pm on Tuesday while playing outside their homes. Their family reported their disappearance to police that evening.
On Wednesday morning, Sharif Gul, the owner of the garage, discovered the children inside his car while inspecting it. He alerted both police and the children's family. Police arrived to find the deceased child in the trunk of the car and the unconscious child on the back seat.
According to SHO Khan, the car, due to its poor condition, had difficult-to-open doors and trunk. It is believed that the children, while playing, might have entered the car and were unable to escape.
