Netflix is set to debut "Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story" on September 19th. This second season of the true crime anthology series, created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, will focus on the infamous 1996 conviction of the Menendez brothers for the murders of their parents. Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch take on the roles of Lyle and Erik Menendez, while Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny portray their parents.
The series also features a talented ensemble cast, including Nathan Lane as Dominick Dunne and Ari Graynor as Leslie Abramson.
The Menendez brothers' case remains controversial, as they claimed they acted out of self-defense after years of alleged abuse, while the prosecution argued they were motivated by greed. The series will likely delve into these competing narratives, exploring the complexities of the case that captivated the nation.
"Monsters" is executive produced by Murphy, Brennan, Bardem, and others. The episodic directors include Brennan, Franklin, Max Winkler, Paris Barclay, and Michael Uppendahl, with a writing team led by Murphy and Brennan.
