The Rawalpindi police have initiated an investigation into the disappearance of former Adiala Jail Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram.
According to police sources, Akram's wife, Maimoona Riyaz, lodged a complaint at the Saddar police station, stating that her husband had gone missing after being taken by two individuals who arrived with jail police from the Adiala Jail Officers' Colony last week.
Since then, there has been no information regarding his whereabouts.
In response, the police have registered a case and commenced an investigation. The station house officer (SHO) of Saddar police station, along with the in-charge of the Adiala police post, visited the location on Tuesday to gather information from residents in the area.
The police have also issued a letter to the jail superintendent, requesting details of the security personnel who were on duty at the Officers' Colony during the night of August 13-14. Furthermore, the security staff has been instructed to report for investigation on Wednesday (today).
It is noteworthy that Akram's wife had previously approached the Lahore High Court's Rawalpindi Bench concerning her husband's disappearance.
