Shiloh Jolie is no longer using the Pitt surname.
The 18-year-old daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie officially dropped her father’s last name after initially filing the legal request on her birthday in May.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, a judge approved the change on Monday morning. Her name has been officially changed from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.
After the dancer submitted her petition to distance herself from the Oscar-winning actor, it was revealed that Shiloh used her own funds to hire a lawyer to represent her.
“Shiloh hired her own lawyer and paid for it herself, so Angie doesn’t know and can’t speak for it,” an insider told “Entertainment Tonight.”
As part of the legal process for a name change in California, a petition must be announced in a newspaper; therefore, Shiloh published her announcement in an ad in the Los Angeles Times, which ran on June 17, June 24, July 1, and July 8, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.
A hearing for Shiloh’s name change was initially set for July but had to be postponed because the court didn’t complete the required background check on time.
“This is normal. Everyone undergoing a name-change request needs to have a background check conducted by the court clerk, and because of clerical error, Shiloh’s hearing has been continued to a new date,” Shiloh’s attorney, Peter Levine, told Page Six in a statement.
Shiloh has now joined several of her siblings who have also publicly distanced themselves from the “Ocean’s 11” star.
