Comedian Eric André has accused Melbourne Airport security of racial profiling during his recent trip to Australia. In an Instagram video, André detailed how he was "detained" and subjected to a thorough search by sniffer dogs during his layover in Melbourne. He believes this treatment was racially motivated and has called on his followers to provide information about the airport's security procedures and the officers involved.
André also expressed his frustration at being repeatedly racially profiled at airports, stating that he doesn't feel safe traveling through Melbourne Airport and requesting a police or security escort for future trips.
Melbourne Airport has responded to André's allegations on Instagram, assuring him that they do not tolerate racism and are following up with the relevant authorities. This isn't the first time André has spoken out about racial profiling at airports, having previously accused Atlanta police of similar behavior in 2021.
