Eight persons lost their lives as a passenger bus travelling from Mansehra to Karachi met an accident with a truck on Sukkur-Multan Motorway in Ghotki district on Monday.
According to the police, the injured passengers claimed that the bus driver caused the accident. One year old Rozina Anabel, 11 years old Hasnat, 35 years old Shagufta, Aeenta, 53 years old Noor-e-Elahi, Hasnat, and Shafiq Ahmed are among the deceased.
Eight persons were injured in the incident and all of them were shifted to taluka hospital Mirpur Mathelo. Condition of four of those injured was critical, said police.
Police were waiting for the heirs to handover the bodies. The rescue officials said that they faced challenges because of rain.
Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressing sorrow over loss of lives in the incident have directed officials concerned to provide best health facilities to the injured.
Public representatives have pointed out the recurrent accidents on the M5 and called for repairs and better traffic management. They have stressed on fitness certificate of public transport vehicles.
