The oversight committee established for monitoring ministers, advisors, special assistants, and government departments in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has revised its procedures following the resignation of former communication and works minister Shakeel Khan.
The committee has decided not to summon any cabinet member without solid evidence and complaints related to the bureaucracy have been referred to the cabinet. The committee, formed by PTI founder Imran Khan, has altered its approach after Shakeel Khan's resignation.
According to the new procedure set by the three-member committee, in the event of a complaint against any government department, the relevant minister, advisor, or special assistant will be notified to address the issue and report back to the committee. Government team members will only be summoned in cases where there are solid complaints and evidence.
Sources have indicated that in the event of a complaint regarding any government department, the special assistant for anti-corruption will contact the concerned parties and handle the issues.
The committee will keep the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and the founder of PTI, continuously informed about proceedings.
Committee members will meet with the PTI founder only on a need-to-know basis, the sources added.
On Friday, Shakeel Ahmed Khan resigned from his post, citing "deep-rooted corruption" within the provincial government.
Ahmed submitted his resignation to K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, expressing frustration with the administration's widespread mismanagement.
In his resignation letter, the minister emphasised his inability to tolerate the ongoing corruption, stating he was compelled to step down.
