Donald Trump has generated controversy by falsely claiming an endorsement from Taylor Swift through a series of AI-generated posts on his Truth Social account. On August 18, 2024, Trump shared several images and a fake news article that misleadingly suggested Swift supported his 2024 presidential campaign.
Among the images was a doctored photo of Swift in an Uncle Sam-style outfit, accompanied by the text, “TAYLOR WANTS YOU TO VOTE FOR DONALD TRUMP.” Another AI-generated image depicted women in “Swifties for Trump” t-shirts. Trump captioned the collage with “I accept!” suggesting approval from the pop star.
Swifties - let’s get Taylor’s attention on this. It’s disgusting. We know Tay does not support Trump or the use of AI to spread misinformation using her likeness. She needs to get her legal team to respond ASAP. pic.twitter.com/P9HhtQ84MC

Lol, Trump posted a collage of AI generated Taylor Swift fans wearing ‘Swifities for Trump’ T-shits, and wrote “I accept!” as if this were real.

I mean…..this is uniquely pathetic, even for Trump. pic.twitter.com/GUVXQLqzYo
Swift has not endorsed any presidential candidate for the upcoming election. In 2020, she supported Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, stating, “The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included,” as reported by V Magazine. She has also criticized Trump’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and his rhetoric surrounding white supremacy.
Earlier this year, Trump questioned Swift’s political stance in an interview for “Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass,” expressing surprise that a country star could be liberal.
Swift’s fans have reacted strongly, calling for her legal team to address the misuse of her image and misinformation.
