Two brothers shot dead over Pattoki land dispute

Mother of victims says attackers opened fire while her sons worked at property

PATTOKI:

Two brothers were shot dead during an exchange of fire between two rival groups over a land dispute in the Bola Garhi area, a suburb of Pattoki.

The victims, 37-year-old Tanveer and 32-year-old Jahangir, were killed on the spot when the opposing group allegedly opened fire as the brothers attempted to build a house on the contested land.

The dispute had already been brought before the court, but tensions boiled over into violence.

According to the victims' mother, the accused launched a direct attack while her sons were working on the property.

"They kept firing, and both of my sons died on the spot," she said.

Following the incident, family members and relatives of the deceased staged a protest on Chunian Road, blocking traffic with the bodies of the two brothers.

They demanded justice and called for the immediate arrest of those responsible, vowing to continue their protest until action was taken.

In response to the protest, officials from Saddar police station, DSP Circle Pattoki, and a heavy contingent of law enforcement were deployed to the scene.

District Police Officer (DPO) Kasur, Muhammad Isa Khan, arrived at the site to mediate the situation.

After personally assuring the victims' families

that justice would be served, the protest was called off.

The bodies were transported by Rescue 1122 to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Pattoki for post-mortem examinations. According to hospital sources, the examinations will proceed after the formal registration of the case.

The Saddar Pattoki police have registered a case against 10 named individuals and four unidentified suspects, based on a complaint filed by the victims' mother.

Special police teams have been assigned to locate and apprehend the suspects, and authorities have expressed confidence that the culprits will be arrested soon.

The land dispute had been ongoing, with both parties locked in a legal battle.

Friday's violence, however, escalated to a deadly confrontation.

Local police officials assured the residents of Bola Garhi of bring those responsible for the murders to justice.
