A young man frustrated over his failure to reconcile with his estranged wife killed her with a knife and severely injured his sister-in-law before taking his own life in Okara.
The police transferred both bodies and the injured woman to a hospital.
District Police Officer Tariq Aziz Sindhu told The Express Tribune that the young man, Saqlain, a resident of Kamoke, went to the home of his wife Ammara's sister in Faridabad to reconcile with her.
When Ammara refused to make up with him, Saqlain attacked and killed her with a knife. In an attempt to save Ammara, her sister intervened but was severely injured by Saqlain.
Afterwards, Saqlain exited the house and inflicted severe wounds on himself with the same knife, ultimately succumbing to his injuries.
DSP Mehr Yousaf and police personnel reached the scene of the incident and transferred the bodies and the injured woman to hospital.
The DPO ordered a complete investigation into the incident.
The police registered a case based on the injured woman's complaint and began an investigation. They also seized the weapon used in the crime and instructed the Crime Scene Unit team to collect evidence from the scene.
