Sindh property registration goes digital

E-registration to expand to Hyderabad, Badin, Kashmore-Kandhkot, Jamshoro, and Tharparkar

The Board of Revenue Sindh has officially ended the manual registration of all types of properties, replacing it with a streamlined e-registration process. The old system ceased operations on August 13 and has been immediately replaced by the new electronic registry system.

E-Registration Board of Revenue Sindh Focal Person, Shahid Panhwar, informed The Express Tribune that after Karachi, e-registration system has been expanded to five more districts in Sindh, including Hyderabad, Badin, Kashmore-Kandhkot, Jamshoro, and Tharparkar.

He also noted that refresher training for property sub-registrars and property lawyers in these districts took place on August 13 and 16. Panhwar explained that the new e-registration system will eliminate delays and the lengthy process of property registration, which previously took three to four months. It will also address issues related to registries being held with objections for extended periods, as parties will now be promptly notified of any issues through the e-registration process. Under the new system, documents can be obtained in as little as 30 minutes if officials work efficiently.

Previously, registration officers worked at the taluka level. However, they will now operate under a single roof at Peoples Service Centers (PSCs) at the district level. The government may also designate a taluka-based sub-registrar office as a PSC, allowing multiple PSCs to function within a district.

The PSCs are part of the Land Administration and Revenue Management Information System (LARMIS) project. To begin the registration process, individuals must create an account on the e-registration web portal at e-registration.gos.pk. Similarly, property lawyers and agents must also register on this site to manage multiple client registrations. While the required documents remain unchanged, the method of submission will now be electronic.

After submitting a registration application online, a challan will be generated, and e-stamps must be obtained from the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Sindh Bank, or the Bank of Punjab (BOP).

The e-stamp number must then be submitted with the application along with details of the selling and buying parties and the property in question.
