ISLAMABAD:

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia solemnly celebrated the 79th Independence Day of Indonesia with a flag hoisting ceremony held at the embassy premises, led by Chargé d'Affaires Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma.

The ceremony marked the culmination of a series of pre-events aimed at fostering unity, mutual respect among Indonesians, and strengthening patriotism. The event, known as "Upacara Bendera" in Indonesian, featured the Embassy's flag hoisting team, comprising Indonesian students. The team had the honour of receiving the Indonesian flag from the Chargé d'Affaires, who served as the Inspector of the Ceremony. The red and white flag was then raised with great solemnity as the Indonesian National Anthem, "Great Indonesia" ("Indonesia Raya"), played.

After the ceremony, Chargé d'Affaires Kusuma escorted guests to the embassy's hall, where they were served Tumpeng, a cone-shaped rice dish traditionally part of celebrations. In his address, Kusuma expressed the spirit of freedom and friendship between Indonesia and Pakistan, stating, "Indonesia and Pakistan, the two largest Muslim countries in the world, dosti zindahbad!"

The ceremony was attended by embassy officials, their families, and hundreds of members of the Indonesian diaspora from various cities across Pakistan.
