Canadian rapper Drake, well-known for his penchant for high-stakes betting, has placed another significant wager on a UFC bout, this time for the main event of UFC 305.
The event, scheduled to take place in Perth, Australia, will see middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis defend his title against former champion Israel Adesanya. The bout has been highly anticipated, with tensions between the two fighters simmering for the past 18 months, culminating in a heated exchange during Friday’s press conference where Adesanya was moved to tears.
Drake, with an estimated net worth of $250 million, frequently bets large sums on UFC fights. At UFC 287, he successfully bet $500,000 on Adesanya to defeat Alex Pereira, securing a significant payout. However, his $300,000 bet on Jorge Masvidal at the same event did not pay off. This time, Drake has staked $450,000 on Adesanya to reclaim the UFC middleweight title from Du Plessis.
Adesanya, who lost the title to Sean Strickland at UFC 293, is determined to regain it in tomorrow’s fight. Whether Drake’s latest bet will succeed remains to be seen, but the stakes are undeniably high as the two fighters prepare to settle their rivalry in the Octagon.
