'Slip of tongue': Madiha Naqvi retracts statement about Agha Ali and Hina Altaf divorce

TV host had earlier said in a show that Agha Ali and Hina Altaf had divorced and were currently living separately.

Pakistani TV host Madiha Naqvi has retracted her earlier confirmation of the divorce between popular showbiz couple Agha Ali and Hina Altaf, claiming it was a slip of the tongue.

During a recent segment of her morning show, where veteran actresses Shagufta Ejaz and Vaneeza Ahmed were guests, Naqvi had mentioned that Agha Ali and Hina Altaf had divorced and were currently living separately.

This statement quickly went viral on social media, making headlines and sparking widespread speculation about the couple's relationship.

However, Naqvi has now backtracked on her statement. In a post on her official Instagram story, she shared a social media post that reported her confirmation of the couple's divorce, responding by questioning her authority to confirm such personal matters.

"I am in no position to confirm the divorce of any couple," Naqvi stated, clarifying that her comment was made during a game segment on the show and was a result of a slip of the tongue.

"I should have been more careful with my words."

She further emphasized that her audience knows she does not make such statements for attention. Naqvi also expressed her admiration for Agha Ali and Hina Altaf, saying she could never intend to hurt them, as she deeply respects the couple.

Agha Ali and Hina Altaf, who tied the knot during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, were subject to separation rumors in 2022, which they strongly denied in April of the same year.
