Matthew Perry’s long-time assistant, Kenneth “Kenny” Iwamasa, was responsible for administering the lethal dose of ketamine that led to the beloved “Friends” star’s death on October 28, 2023, as disclosed by law enforcement on Thursday.

During a press conference, US District Attorney Martin Estrada revealed that Perry had relapsed from his substance abuse issues in the fall, and the five individuals charged with his death “took advantage to profit for themselves.”

According to Estrada, Dr. Salvador Plasencia worked with Iwamasa, who resided with Perry at his Los Angeles home, to distribute approximately 20 vials of ketamine to the actor over a span of two months.

In a press release issued Thursday, the Department of Justice stated that Iwamasa confessed to repeatedly injecting Perry with ketamine without any medical training, including "multiple injections" on the day Perry passed away.

Iwamasa pleaded guilty on August 7 to a single count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine resulting in death and is facing a 15-year prison sentence in his federal case.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Iwamasa had been employed by Perry for over 25 years.

He wrote in his bio, “I thrive in chaotic situations which call for order. I am discreet, loyal and honor absolute confidentiality.”

In addition to Iwamasa, Dr. Plasencia, along with his accomplice Dr. Mark Chavez, were arrested and charged, alongside "Ketamine Queen" Jasveen Sangha and alleged street dealer Erik Fleming.

Law enforcement uncovered a text message from Plasencia, an urgent care physician based in Calabasas, California, that revealed their true intentions and total disregard for the life of the “17 Again” star.

He once wrote, “I wonder how much this moron will pay” and “Lets [sic] find out.”

Iwamasa was reportedly the person who discovered Perry deceased, face down in his hot tub, at his Pacific Palisades home in California last October.
