It was one of the few press conferences Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has addressed since his self-imposed exile in London, and one that few will forget.
Hussain made no explosive statements, but one was fairly telling of how the next few months may look for Karachi.
Referring to the number of Urdu-speaking community members who have been killed in Karachi in the past few months, Hussain warned that “if action is not taken, I will take back the appeal for calm issued to MQM workers.”
“Are you scared of going into the areas where they have killed Mohajirs?” he asked, addressing his party.
Hussain repeated the comment during the question and answer session, and said that if the MQM workers are free, they are free to make whatever demands they want.
The MQM leader repeatedly addressed many of the allegations made against the party in recent years, but chose not to refer to the ones made by former Sindh home minister Zulfiqar Mirza in the past couple of weeks.
He repeatedly addressed President Asif Ali Zardari, who he referred to as a brother, as well as Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Inter-Services Intelligence head Lt Gen Ahmad Shuja Pasha.
“Where are you, Chief Justice sahib? Where are you, COAS sahib?” he said, questioning why no one had taken the issue of Mohajirs being killed on the basis of their ethnicity seriously.
The MQM chief also referred to the ongoing operation in Karachi by the Rangers and police. “Truckloads of Mohajirs were taken away from Baldia Town, Liaquatabad and Yousaf Plaza (in the Federal B area). We did not protest.”
He made it clear that if anyone belonging to the MQM was found guilty of being involved in violence in Karachi, they expected law enforcement agencies to deal with them.
Hussain spoke out against Lyari’s Peoples Amn Committee, alleging that its members had terrorised Lyari’s residents and were involved in the brutal torture and killings of Mohajirs. “We are not against the people of Lyari. Water supply came to Lyari because of the MQM, not the Pakistan Peoples Party.” Videos showing alleged violence by militants in Lyari were screened for the media before Hussain’s address began.
(Read: Political dance of death)
Much of his criticism was directed towards Nawaz Sharif, the head of his own faction of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N). Hussain questioned why, as a signatory to the Charter of Democracy (CoD), Sharif had supported and campaigned for the restoration of the CJP when it contravened the CoD. He also questioned the leadership of the Awami National Party (ANP), who he said was misleading Pathans in Peshawar and Karachi. He also claimed that the US had paid ANP leader Asfandyar Wali Khan millions of dollars to win the last general elections.
He answered, in a veiled way, the allegation that the MQM was involved in violence targeting Pathans. “Why would I be an enemy of Pathans that I have never met, heard or seen?”
He also made a veiled reference to human rights organisation leaders who had “crushed human rights”.
Hussain said he believed his life was under threat. “I will speak freely today because I do not know if I will be alive tomorrow to say this.”
The MQM leader answered the accusations made against the party for its alleged role in the May 12, 2007 violence, and directly addressing the CJP, implored that the MQM’s rally that day was neither in favour, nor against him.
He alleged that the violence was carried out by the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) who worked with the MQM’s Haqiqi faction. He also described the ‘Thunder Squad’, an alleged wing of the JI that was involved in violence.
When asked if he would accept the verdict in the suo motu case that is being heard by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Hussain said that they would have to wait and see.
Hussain believes Pakistan is being conspired against by foreign forces who are working with Pakistanis. While he declined to name any of the countries, a sheaf of papers explained his beliefs – which included articles on various future scenarios about Pakistan and a map of the ‘new Middle East and Pakistan’, which has circulated among conspiracy theorists for the past decade. He said that he and the MQM were ‘standing in the way’ of this conspiracy to break up Pakistan, and that powerful forces were behind this push.
He also said he may not have evidence for many of his claims, but would be willing to apologise were he proved wrong. “I do not lie.”
Altaf Hussain also spoke about the investigation into the murder of Dr Imran Farooq. “We are constantly in touch with the local police and investigation team. Whenever we get information we convey this to them, whatever we can share. The Scotland Yard is a very experienced and good agency.”
Hussain also declined to name a successor to his party’s leadership.
He remained diplomatic in questions about President Zardari. In response to a question by The Express Tribune about the MQM’s demands of the PPP that would need to be met for it to rejoin the government, Hussain said that the party wants the PPP to take action against those who are torturing and terrorising innocent citizens. He also said that he had spoken to the president to ask about why the Federal Investigation Agency were reporting on the MQM to UK’s agencies, and that the president had investigated and reported that this was not happening.
He also hit out at clerics who misled people, saying that they did not explain religion properly to people. His address opened with a declaration – “The history of Pakistan that has been taught to you is lies, deceit and deception.” Recalling the August 11, 1947 address to the Constituent Assembly, the MQM chief said the secular and liberal-leaning Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s words had been distorted. While explaining religious contexts, he said, “I did not care about fatwas yesterday, and I will not care about them today.”
Hussain also spoke out against high profile anchorpersons, who he said are set on ensuring that ‘one party will not be allowed to operate in Karachi’, while expressing his admiration for reporters and camerapersons who risk their lives to report.
(Read: Who will rescue Karachi?)
Hussain, speaking via a Skype connection, talked for a few hours before the floor opened up for questions.
The Khursheed Begum Secretariat hall was bursting at the seams, as reporters, camerapersons and MQM leaders, including Dr Farooq Sattar, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Waseem Akhtar, Faisal Sabzwari, Nasreen Jalil, Mustafa Kamal and Wasay Jalil jostled for space to listen to Hussain. Even though he has not directly addressed reporters in years, Hussain was in a jovial mood and made several jokes and bantered with reporters.

@Born Again Pakistani:
Very well said 100% agreed
@ A J Khan .so what do you think is the language of Pakistan ? ..i do not want to insult any language of our country as you did , other wise we all know most of the language that are spoken in Pakistan dont even have the verse. & party is not over not yet you can confirm it by visiting Karachi .
@Kazmis: I dont know which language you speak and which community you belong to neither i am interested but please dont tell me you are from a gentle and educated "community" that makes a "factor" i believe from your thoughts and have no doubt that definitely you are from a" gentle" family.A man is all what he thinks , and it is his thoughts good or bad that navigates him through his small world . I had decided not to answer you any more since your last blame alleging Urdu splitting Pakistan in1971, and hoped my answer did quench your thirst to a relief , but now you are distracting yourself and others, and seems to get more from me, making yourself a judge deciding which community is gentle and which is not, that has nothing to do with the politics prevailing in Pakistan and in Karachi. I want to make it clear that all the people who migrated from any part of India are "MOHAJIR" and they will be treated as uprooted people here, though living in a state.so let them live as mohajirs and dont try to split them in any category.Incidents off and on at Qasba, Banaras, and in Aligarh prove that. They are fine by their own title and community. All communities have good gentle and educated people beside boors. As far as Albadre , Alshams are concerned they were the creation of Jamaat e Islami, to protect army from the mukti bahiny and were used as bait sending them to the fronts and in them mostly were fanatic Bengali youths from jamaat e islami. Wrong decision in politics, and war always have some consequences and innocent people have to suffer.Either they are Palistanian refugees in camps , Afghan refugees in camps or Urdu speaking refugees in Bangladeshi camps.they all are vulnerable people and needs sympathy not blaming.Dont worry if circumstances ( God forbid) like that happens here that will be final and history of the subcontinent will be rewritten again, and then there will be only one thing to think MUSLIMS OR NON MUSLIMS,agree, wont that be better," ley ayi phir kahan pey qismat hamain kahan pey, ye to wohi jagha hey guzrey they humjahan sey" . Lastly i am not interested in any more conversation with you sorry, and i had made it clear in my last comment too, please dont adress me any more, because i havn't asked you any question i have just answered you.I wish you a very nice and devoid of prejudice "environment" around you. Thanks
@isloo boy: Please do not support but respect the mandate....we are plenty to vote MQM and support the manifesto....Nobody can force....
urdu speaking people outside karachi hyderabad dont support mqm i call my self a lahori though my grandfather came from delhi
@Tanzeel: Well most of MQM supporters were disappointed, shocked and embarrassed at their 'leader's' drama.
@Ikramuddin Akbar: @Adeel Ahmed: Yes you are right Mr Adeel Ahmedd. Karachi's Urdu Speaking people who came from UP & Lucknow etc are quite gentle in nature. The Bihari factor (Urdu Speaking) when entered in Karachi politics was hijacked by some Western and a volatile group was created in Karachi who was for the use of West (Ref; Letter to Tony Blair). The Group forgot Karachites demands and worked on other agenda. These our brothers remained never satisfied with Bengalis in East Pakistan. They made Al-Badr & AL-Shams and failed, They are either killed or migrated to Pakistan or still living in camps. I seriously doubt that once again all urdu speaking will have to face same fate and go somewhere like Bangladesh or Tamils in Sri-Lanka.
I am Urdu Speaking and lived in Karachi but MQM does not represent me as many other Urdu Speakers. We are unbiased, polite and educated people and some of our people have been mislead by MQM. I request all the Pakistanis in general and Karachites in particular that please put off the glasses of Taasub and support the politics of non-violence in Karachi. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has also prohibited taasub like "jis nai usbiyat pe jan di wo hum mai sai nahi" (Mafhoom).
If we Urdu Speakers claim and proud to be educated the our behaviour and decision making should reflect it. Our decision to support must be based on national interest. How can an educated person supports Bhatta, target killing, jabari fitrana, zabardasti ki khalain, etc etc.
We Urdu Speakers are educated and we must be confident enough that we must reject/throw the leadership who refuses to act like an educated and policy of non-terrorism. Otherwise, what will be the differecne between us and the people living in village. Just realaize that our representatives isolate us from the independent of judiciary movement, educated people of karachi was no where in the movement.
Please MQM dont claim that you represent all Urdu speakers.
The nation has all RIGHT to know why was Imran Khan denied press coverage while he was addressing an Independence Day gathering in Islamabad on 14th August, 2011 night and why was this “Bhai of Karachi” given a 2 hour long nerve stretching LIVE coverage?
@Kazmis: Forget Quaid e Azam's visit and his arbitrary announcement forcing Urdu in Bengol, Remember the remaining one.Even after that Pakistan was alive there. yes my parents say there had been a riot there in the result, but even after that they never talked about Urdu and reconciled the matter. But it was Shaikh Mujibur Rahman's 6 points. Pakistan accepted his 4 points but not the two that could have led them to independence and liberated them from Pakistan much earlier and they wouldn't have to struggle much. But the most important thing was the army action that had no remedy and cure. But i will not go again repeating history what i said is the extract of the main cause that separated East Pakistan, whether you believe it or not.History believes it. There is a saying" bhains key agey been bajaney se koi fayeda nahi" Thanks
its very sad that we never learn from our mistakes, we never accept facts, we never look for truth all we do its stay in denial and support politicians on basis of ethnicity .... - Remember change never comes without acceptance ... :(
I am "Urdu speaking"- my parents migrated from Meerut, but MQM does NOT represent me. Please do not equate being Urdu speaking with supporting MQM.
@Ikramuddin Akbar: Thanks for your comment but perhaps do not you know that in 1947-48 when Quaid e Azam visited Dacca after creation of Pakistan, Bengali Intellectual demanded him equal status of Bengali in Bengal instead of Urdu as Bengali was biggest language at that time more than the Urdu. At that public gathering Quaid e Azam declared, "I say there will be only one language in Pakistan Urdu, Urdu and Urdu". It is on the record and since than East Pakistan was never yours.
Dear Friends,
I must add that;
1.Previously Zulfiqar Mirza brought to surface a letter written by Altaf Hussain which he wrote to British Prime Minister Tony Blair asking him of the intervention in politic of Pakistan, even elimination of ISI and demanding of some perks in return but none of the authority in our country has come up with any kind of objection to writing a letter to a foreign government by a Pakistani Citizen. I know of the Logan Act of United States that this becomes a criminal behaviour under the law and a violation of the act which prohibits citizen from conducting foreign relations without authority. I wonder why in Pakistan there is no such enforcement of law.
Lately Altaf Hussain has used this out of context the map drawn by some lunatic Ralph Peters that I made it topic of my post. It is so disgusting to note that how low our politics has travelled and how these Madaries are spinning the history. They are blinded by their arrogance and keep on volleying very cheap shots for score settlings. For instance Altaf Hussain has used this map to call a shot; possibly no one may be challenging him and this map may be a thin and deeply flawed description of the narrative for petty attack on others but very cunningly he has build a perception out of it and will be using it as a tool for time to come.Yeh aoochay Perr kaisey haen; kaheen saya naheen kartey
It is the responsibility of all concerned to clear what is London Plan, why a letter is written to PM of England. The writer is off course taken anti Pakistani but it should also be considered that Types of services offered to UK by MQM-A are really required by UK and for what purpose, it is itself a criminal planning. Secondly the Map shown by MQM regarding breaking of Pakistan, was circulating in Karachi through net when published by NY Times several years back, also this Map is not for Pakistan only it is for the whole Middle east. There is a Persian saying "Once failed in trust should not be tested again since it is against the wisdom". Why further clarifications and importance is extended still now?
@Kazmis And even Pakistan's national language? still adorable, bringing harmony to each other! What language do u speak, decent? People had been blaming the army action, and some blames people's party, so nothing has left for you in the inventory of blaming stock except the beloved national language of Pakistan. Please think twice before uttering something against a language.
Lol for all those people who are so hell-bent at criticizing MQM, please wake up from your dreams. Regardless of what you people think of the party and its leader; we will vote for the party next time as well. Either you digest that, or learn to live with it. It is our party, and urban Sindh is going to vote for the party like never before. Either respect the mandate given to the party by an educated community, or just keep burning..
I wonder why all the political parties are against MQM. I go back in the history of Pakistan. In East Pakistan Awami League swept Election and no one here West Pakistan supported Mujeeb ur Rahman as people here hated Bangalis and did not allow him to become the PM of Pakistan. The result was Bangladesh become reality in 1971. Same situation is here in Karachi. MQM is being denied share in police, Revenue and other departments. I blame the powerful political party PML N, Jamate Islami, PPP and JUI for the evils of Pakistan because they lost their mandate in Karachi, Zulfiqar Mirza was playing game of death in Karachi like an Indian movie The Company. with the help of Lyari Gangster. No one has accepted MQM from the bottom of their heart. Let the court decide about Karachi and come up to the public and announce the master mind of this killing. Till then we should wait. .
@ali: ' i think an Indian in disguise
@ASMAT JAMAL:
actually you should have said, pakistani's look for a decent honest leader.. and let him be a pakistani first and sindhi, urdu speaker, punjabi, pakhtoon, hazari, second,,,,
regards
@Azam Khan:
Another Indian trolling in fake identity
@ASMAT JAMAL:
You type people will not allow the country unity. Eastern enemy is better than inside neighbour. Atleast we know he is the enemy. Inside neighbour? Worst than the enemy. He will be punished by Allah.
@Kazmis: URDU, Broke Pakistan in 1971! Lol!. I got your point, so why is urdu at lareg since then, yank it out from your tongue, and go on your BOLIS and help avoid further disintegrations .Ah! it broke my heart too.Sorry, you did not qualify to solve the most important question of MENSA, which uptill now experts failed to answer, but i can help you I dont know which language u speak but i am certain urdu wouldn't be yr mother tongue. Now when at least you tried to tacle that question you should be appraised . Do you want to know why Pakistan was split in two in 1971? listen. It was mainly injustices that was done to Bengalis from the very beginning, You tried to solve the problem militarily by sending armed murderers from here to loot the houses, rape the Bengali women and killing Hindus in particular, and carrying out combing operations setting on fire the whole village and killing every one.As a result hatred against urdu speaking people started germinating because Punjabi boli is very close to Urdu language, and BENGALIS treated them alike. Poor Urdu speaking people there! ( Have you read about "My Lai" massacre of 1968 in the central Vietnam) Urdu was not imposed as their national language they already had their Bengali language ,so urdu was not a factor there in creating hatred and breaking Pakistan. Cause of breaking of Pakistan lied more in psychological factors than political.Establishments here treated them as their slaves. Urdu is the most richest language of the subcontinent, which united the peple socially and brought the different "BOLI" speaking people close to each other. Its a language of communication how can a language having so much qualities break a country? Right from Allama Iqbal to Hafiz jalundri to faiz ahmed faiz to ahmad faraz to Shorish Kashmiri to mujibur Rahman Shami to Ashfaq Ahmed toMadam Noorjehan to Mai Bhagi and to Abida Perveen, they all rose to the sky of fame with the help of the ladder of Urdu. Dear try to find some time to sit around some decent broadminded people. Finally write a letter to your dear mom in URDU, and let's see did it "break" the heart of a mother too?. Think twice before jotting down anything that can " break" a millions heart too, Hah! ( I request Express tribune to publish this note,it is important , thanks)
@Imran: Have you seen Shahbaz Sharif? He does alot of shaer or shyree and singing... so if he does it why does it pinch you.
@Hmmm: Oh so now you are talking of us being people of the land... Why didnt this idea came into anyone head till now?
@Ahmad M. Qamar: Because Mustafa Kamal had answered ZM allegation few days back, why should Altaf Hussein be answering again?
@Shahid Khan: There was no need...MQM should answer back in the tone they understand.
@Kashif Siraj: When map's of Jinnahpur never dented the vote bank how come this will
Total waste of time and drama which ruined 3 hours of people getting no useful information except a couple of well-thought allegations on political adversaries. Even he didn't answer the allegations of mirza which were due and nation expected him to clarify his position. My personal views about this guy and M Kamal went to hopeless low, when they try to spread hatred on basis of mahagir or urdu. But im certain of one thing, ITS NOT THE PROBLEM OF PEOPLE BUT CLASH OF EXISTANCE OF MQM, PPP, ANP etc and they all are killing innocent pakistanis for their gain.
Not even an iota of decency.
I am at a Loss when I visualize together both, Nawabzada Liaqat Ali Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, who gave his life for this country and never classified himself as a Mohajir and Mr. Altaf Hussain the Chief of MQM and the representative of the fine and educated Karachites. On the one hand we have a decent educated person who gave up all luxury and served and died for his country and for his conviction. On the other I see a person who claims loyalty to his country of birth and yet stays away for 20 years in self exile for fear of life, I just have problem visualizing both of them sitting together sharing the same high Pedestal.......
Can anyone help me focus.... Please?
Mirza impact is powerful because he is on ground even reveling half truth If Supreme Court brings peace & justice in Karachi, nobody can stop MQM shrinking to its limits Supreme Court must end fear factor in Karachi politics and political parties must shunt their criminal & militant wings!
@Adeel759: Would have been fir sure but what matters is the people who voted for him... And I can tell you that is not dented so MQM being a reality rest of Pakistan will have to digest
@Zarif: ZM stopped his onslaught after COAS met President.....that is why it is interesting
@Nasir: except that he didnt leak anything
@Saqib Mohiuddin: LOL u brother are very funny.
Tell me......I felt 90% of the information that was shared was from newspapers and book(s).That is stale information
As to the Map: it first appeared in 2006 and was used in an article by Ralph Peters entitled "Blood Borders: How a Better Middle East Would Look," published in Armed Forces Journal. http://www.armedforcesjournal.com/2006/06/1833899 and map http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=3882 The map was prepared by Lieutenant-Colonel Ralph Peters. It was published in the Armed Forces Journal in June 2006
What was the whole press conference of 200 minutes all about?.
I do not think it must have made positive impression Internationally or even locally..........
This press conference is going to effect adversely on next election results for MQM...MQM has washed away all the hard work they did during last 7 to 8 years to expand their party influence in Punjab.KP and Gilgit Baltistan......MQM seriously need some serious leadership if they want to exist.......Hats off to Zulfiqar Miraz at least one positive that has come out of his leaks that people are speaking against Oppression and tyranny of political parties,,,,..Zufiqar Mirza's allegation against MQM still stands as no clear answer yet provide by any of the leader of MQM.
We are being mislead and misguided by every responsible entity of government and politicians. Pakistan is fast disintegrating due to less tolerance and vulgar exchange of words.
@Saqib Mohiuddin: Excellent press conference. Covered everything and the most beautiful part is that not a single word about Zulfiqar Mirza who is dying like Imran Khan to get cheap fame by cursing MQM. Great job.WE LOVE ALTAF HUSSAIN, if anybody has any problem, DEAL WITH IT……..
Oh there is no doubt we all have problems. But, right now you guys seem to have the biggest one. Still, it's nothing a 12 step program, and willingness can't cure.
I belong to a Mahajir family. My personal opinion is that MQM Hijacked all our community and Karachi. They attack Jamat-e-Islami because it is the second option to vote for us.
No one dare to speakout against them on streets.
The only reason people watched this was because they thought Altaf would be able to provide a rebuttal to Zulfiqar Mirza. Clearly everyone was disappointed (and briefly entertained).
Now here comes the real hero, sitting in London and saving Pakistan, isn't it?
The Ball has started rolling. Mirza Hats off to you
@ karachiwala, Relax are we really looking forward for ZM response!!?!!
Ameeican funding of millions of dollars to ANP should be taken seriously, US has to answer this but how can do thal., Americans get away even after committing murders in this country...
Worth watching Press conference at least he has not not misbehaved or used dirty language like Zulfiqar Mirza!
Here it shows the difference b/w urdu speakings and non Ones! We shouldn't make fun of him he is one of our leader and we should respect, and by not replying to ZM allegation this show that there were not even worth to be discussed.
Once again Altaf confrence is a slap on the faces of all feduals of Pakistan who claim that this land and its people are there entity and slaves, entire Pakistan was listening to the words of an ordinary Karachi University student who stand from nowhere to protect the rights of poor and middle class people
Where is ZM? I expected some furry statement from him.
The unserious attitude of Altaf Bhai during 3 to 4 hours of press conference proves that the alligations by Zulfiqar Mirza were true, Altaf Bhai was just talking about past past and past.......................press release was full of drama, dance, songs in short full of entertainment.....
@Ahmad M. Qamar: There is no issue....rest of pakistan can brand him a traitor a terrorist whatever you want... but along with digest one more thing... we will vote them back. So its upto all of you to decide if you want to accept the mandate or reject it. We will not bow.... MQM speaks to feudals in the language they speak and we accept it as right. We dont lick their boots we stand and talk to them with our eyes gazing direct.
Who is this Tanzeel guy and why is he so hell bent on MQM? It's pretty obvious that no matter what anyone from that party says, regardless of whether it's the nonsensical and raving speeches of Altaf, or the misinformed and media-hating gibberish of Mustafa Kamal, you will absolutely adore every second of it. I make an appeal to you--- learn how to think for yourself instead of lapping up every word that is given to you.
We need the great leader like Altaf Hussain back in our country. He will be in safe hand with his comrades & will also address his concerns about the foreign conspiracies against him.
@Lateef Khan: Jealous he has the nationality and you dont?
The people of Pakistan were treated to an insane comedy show last evening . The questions remain if Zufliqar Mirza and Altaf Hussain were privy to such sensitive information it was their duty to pass it on to the establishment
@Ali Raza Mangi: No it doesn't. There are plenty of crap theories the politicians of Pakistan agree on. Imagine if a Pakistani politician sang American praises of flawlessness. They'd be bombarded with conspiracy theories and somehow lose credibility even in unrelated things. Now, if you trash talk and accuse any country other than China, people love you for it and that's what politicians are after. The favor of people for votes regardless of any belief they may hold.
They avoid alienating the voters if possible. Accusing Pakistan of its own faults they don't want to take ownership of isn't going to make any friends. So, they engage in Pakistan's age old tradition of talking themselves up to be innocent while blaming everyone else.
It's always "foreign hands" and there are two countries people want to blame and don't want to get distracted by the truth about. India and the US.
Work on your critical thinking and chip away at being gullible. When all it takes is that for you to come to that conclusion and aren't alone in it is exactly why your country gets itself involved in so much drama it can't even accomplish the simplest of economic trade objectives. You alienate every single country you come into close contact with. That, or get them killed.
You're barely managing to crawl because of your lack of ability to actually think, let alone anywhere close to standing on your own two feet and it's all your own fault.
Every single time my opinion of Pakistan heads into the positive direction, someone like you comes out of nowhere to make me feel stupid for it.
@Ikramuddin Akbar: Urdu was the language which BROKE Pakistan in 1971, now again.
All channel covered the press conference...yes. But every one watched it also and everyone came on the following conclusion that, 1.Letter to Tony Blair NOT ANSWERED 2.NATO container lost with Ammunition NOT ANSWERED 3.India trained workers NOT ANSWERED and there was an impression that if any action taken against them, workers will be freed loose like 12 May or 27 Dec?
@Truth From Pakistan: The only true comment so far
Haha:))) I want t0 ask 1 0ne question from Altaf Hussain and his lovers, What is the reason Behind this, Why Altaf Hussain is not c0ming Pakistan f0r several Years??????? Is there any Alegations on him???? If any 0ne has better answer please reply, em waiting from Lovers of Altaf Hussain.
PAKISTAN ZINDABAD ONLY FOR TRUE LOVERS OF ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN
I love his jovial style... Do you have a leader in this world who sings with such a beautiful voice?
The biggest issue was that of Zulfiqar Mirza allegations. Altaf Hussain did not say a single word about them. What does this show? Only that Zulfiqar Mirza spoke the truth.
Excellent press conference. Covered everything and the most beautiful part is that not a single word about Zulfiqar Mirza who is dying like Imran Khan to get cheap fame by cursing MQM. Great job.WE LOVE ALTAF HUSSAIN, if anybody has any problem, DEAL WITH IT........
I am just wondering, ================how come the tribune editor is allowing the people of Pakistan speaking against MQM=============== . Point to be noted I am not saying Mohajir, I am saying MQM.??????????? In this press conference Altaf has clearly 1.Every urdu-speaking mohajir can only join MQM and that too MQM -Altaf.???? 2.threatened the Army that MQM workers can fight you shoulder to shoulder as an Army so be aware!!!!!!!!!!!! ........ 3.All the other 12000 ethinicities were killed by MQM because one of the mohajir was executed and showed on Youtube????????? 4.Every mohajir-but only urdu speaking mohajir owns Karachi and if someone wants to live peacefully in Karachi , he has to obey and seek permission of MQM ????? 5.Pakistan was created by Urdu-speaking muhajir for Mohajirs and rest of ethnicities should go to Afghanistan?????? 6.Pathan and Baloch are not Pakistanis at alll????????
@Mohammad Ali Siddiqui: You didn't need to put all that effort in your post. Should have just typed your name, and it would have said it all. Its not rocket science!
@Tanzeel.....i know you are sitting in nine-zero
@Ali: Yes, this really is an SOS signal
altaf told the thing that america wants to destroy pakistan and this was told by Dr Mirza also mirza pointed out that mqm is with america it means Dr Zulfiqar mirza is 100 percent right................................
Can some one tell me what is this Britisher talking about? Is he talking about another country? A country he is not even a citizen of? MQM has not given a single statement to prove that:
They are not a terrorist organization. They are not based on race/language They are not a main stream party and never going to be one as they cannot think beyond the words "Mohajar" and "Sindh" They do not understand that every Urdu Speaking is not a Mohaja. With so many speakers in front of you, you can simply talk rather than looking funnier than a circus lion.@Syed: By Urdu speaking community it means people who's mother tongue is Urdu .At home and out they speak Urdu. There never had been any language of that caliber in Pakistan that could bring four provinces close to each other and on a plate-form and in dealings, so Urdu being a rich language and acceptable to all was selected as Pakistan's national language.Otherwise there have always been scuffle among the people of the provinces unable to understand each other's bolis. Punjabis, Pushtoons, Balochis speak Urdu out side their homes but inside their home they speak their own boli.Though some like to speak Urdu in their homes too.it's the magic of Urdu! They will not be at any cost termed and declared as Urdu speaking community even after speaking Urdu day and night. They have their own communities.Majority of the MQM people belong to Urdu speaking community .So u know, What!!!
The map shown by Altaf Hussain is not some new conspiracy theory which is breeding in Pakistan but just an old Pakh of one ex-US spy and neocon columnist Ralph Peteres who keeps on coming up with such theories. This map was first published under the caption of; Blood Brothers and Ralph Peters thinks that the borders since carved in Middle East which includes Pakistan, are the outcome of a cunning scheme of a British General Churchill who at the end of British colonial Empire intentionally divided some of the countries in order to create rift among the divided Middle Eastern countries and see it that they have the pretext to come back as arbitrators. For instance Kurd in Middle East are divided in four different countries; Iraq, Turkey, Syria and Iran. Likewise Pashtun are seen divided in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran. He has presented the case for the neocons to exploit the issue of Blood Brothers in Middle East a sure reason to create chaos in these countries and bring this region in their fold and control. Not a bad theory. But Altaf Hussain has simply tried to massage it to fight back and divert the attention of public from the series of allegations raised against MQM and at the same time to spice up his Press conference. A Good try
What a waste of time it was !!! Wonder why all news channels gave commercial free broadcasting for 3 hours- longest in the tv history!! Should have aired a bollywood movie instead- was better than that joker, entertainer, mimic, singer cum actor.
@Syed: Well said. We are all urdu speaking, so we can communicate with each other. Some then additionally enjoys another regional spoken language. Good for all these. And some only speak urdu. Good for these too. Pak zindabad.
First of all to clear the things up on the press conference i changes the channel the moment i saw religion being USED during a political conference .. mobile alerts and rss feeds helped a lot to keep up with the coming statements..... My questions : 1. f you address pakistan as a secular state according to M.A. Jinnah's vision why diffuse both religion and politics in a country wide press conference... 2 NO words about common people devasted due to rains dengue and other calamities 3. absolutely ZERO new leaks quoting other resources means OLD news 4. How come a TOP SECRET CIA map was viewable by our leader ?? 5. Old blame game other parties may be DEVIL but on other account MQM wont be saint either by human nature it is bound to suffer some corruption and wrong doings. still appreciate his time n effort on the press conference being Pakistan a secular country is a different debate altogether though
Good entertainment.. Who would be going to Cinema when Altaf Hussain gives such an excellent entertainment on TV :D
Well guys, Altaf bahai Jan is living in fool's paradise if he thinks things are always going to be good by manipulating people.Let me tell, these mentioned conspirational articles may be written by anti-lobby but its premature hypothetical. You can get many articles like this.OPEN UR EYES. Person lives there in the West and propagate anti-sentiments for the WEST WOW!
@Tanzeel: Yes, we all watched it. Much the same way one watches a horrific car wreck. You WANT to look away because it's so terrible, but you just can't.
Begining of Altaf "Bhai's" press conference with recitation from Holy Qur'an proves:
"There are no atheists in foxholes."
Old habits die hard in Altaf Husseins case its even more true, once again he shot himself in the foot. I dont understand what was the point of his televised rants???? Ever since MQM came to existence it has been a part of every government, military or civilian yet some how they claim to be opposition. They enjoy all the perks of being in government with non of the draw backs. Mr. Altaf went on to threaten Supreme Court that if a verdict comes again his party there will be a reaction, now that is a open threat. He just raised the bar himself well done Altaf Bhai, with a leader like you your party does not need any enemies, your the biggest enemy of your people.
@Tanzeel And once again like your leader you got nothing good to add to this conversation, but being a MQM worker that comes with the job. Useless
Its not a blame game.. Its all about lame game.
@Asmat Jamal, what do you mean by Urdu Speaking Community? Urdu is the Official Language of Pakistan (Period). Better think twice before speak!
Thanks ali nawaz.
@Ali Nawaz: We, the London Post publish information circulating around. We can't give references to any news.
@tanzeel. point is a leader shouldnt sing in his press conference. its a joke and a comedy. No hard feeling brother.
Altaf Hussain wasn't in South Africa. I don't know why our media is so biased?? Why don't they break the following news?? http://www.thelondonpost.net/Aug262011000117.html
Pakistan is passing from the worst ever condition of its history and our politicians still blaming each other.... I don't where we're going and what will be happened to our beloved country. May Allah protect Pakistan....
pakistani people cant see how our politicians are fighting..i didnt see any truth in altaf hussain speech.forcely on all channels .families who lost their loved ones in karachi blood shed.no one replace them. WE all are pakistani. act as a one family. One for all and all for one please wake up. save pakistan. its our identity,Its pakistan not a piece of meat on whom politicians are fighting
He didnt answer any of the questions raised by Mirza
@Hairan, i wanted to like your post millions of times but Tribune doesn't allow me, cruel
@Mohammad Ali Siddiqui: Pakistan treat criminal same way as it lets them freely live like honest people.
Z Mirza's conference was much more interesting
One should agree to Mr. Altaf Hussain’s point that Quaidi-e-Azam said all citizens of Pakistan will be treated equally.
It was Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who after the elections did not accepted the elections results in which Mujeeb-ur-Rahman’s Muslim League won the elections with majority and this became the core issue for breaking Pakistan into two parts.
Now the Pakistani of the remaining part of Pakistan are facing same situation after Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto imposed quota system in the country to rule the country for an indefinite period.
The day government will abolish the quota system from the country and every one will be given opportunity of employment in the government departments purely on merit basis, the whole situation in the country will be changed.
When every citizen of Pakistan has an equal right, then why the quota system is still prevailing in the country?
@Hairaan: Even Sindhi and regional channels telecasting the Presscon, the place where MQM is not influential at all. Further, I know that a wave of heavy criticism is about to come by the Anti MQMites here and on different forums, some would call it boring, comedy show or whatever but what I know is EVERYBODY WATCHED IT RELIGIOUSLY.
Bhai calling all the shots from the UK. Instructs members to leave the ruling government. Re-instructs them to rejoin the government. Bhai is the only polititision in the world that rules from outside his country. what an accomplishment..............
@ Tanzeel - Al-Qaeeda and Taliban "enjoy" even better coverage
never supported MQM or PPP or PML(N)... but must give credit to zulfiqar mirza who open that pendora box which is full of filth and stinks. however mirza has set an example to stand n speak truth. Altaf hussain has golden time today to prove what he really is. All we want to hear is truth and nothing else.
@Tanzeel: No channel wants to be put off the air forcibly you know.
I am glad that Mr Altaf Hussain not only has British nationality but renounced (gave up) his Pakistani nationality.
He has all the right to talk about Pakistani plitics, NOT
Indeed a very BOLD and CANDID press conference. I am amazed by the massive media coverage MQM is enjoying.
woohoo! go altaf bhai! :p
Pakistani politics at its best .. all the happenings suggest a very interesting 2012
