In the latest development, the entire network run by former deputy superintendent of Adiala Jail, Muhammad Akram, has reportedly been caught facilitating Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan in prison.
According to sources, as many as 10 officials, including four officers of Adiala Jail, were found to be facilitating the PTI founder. The officers include former deputy superintendent Zafar Ghori and assistant superintendent Nazim Shah.
Both officers were residing close to the residence of former deputy superintendent Adiala Jail Muhammad Akram.
The sources said that the six officials being investigated included two orderlies, three wardens and a head warden. They are all are considered to be close to the former deputy superintendent Adiala Jail. The sources said that evidence had been obtained which showed that these officials used three WhatsApp accounts with numbers from European countries.
Muhammad Akram is considered to be close to former Punjab minister and PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari. Akram is reportedly facing charges of facilitating PTI founder Imran Khan and delivering his messages. He had been intermittently stationed at Adiala Jail over a period of 15 years.
