514 law violators held on Independence Day

194 lawbreakers were arrested, and 174 cases were registered.

On Independence Day, Punjab Police conducted a crackdown on various law violations, including one-wheeling and aerial firing.

A total of 514 individuals were arrested across the province, with 461 cases registered against them. The police spokesperson reported that 415 suspects were apprehended for one-wheeling, leading to 375 cases.

Additionally, 29 suspects were arrested for aerial firing, with 24 cases registered, and 23 suspects were detained for kite flying, resulting in 26 cases. For other violations, including silencer modifications, 47 suspects were arrested, and 36 cases were filed.

In Lahore, 194 lawbreakers were arrested, and 174 cases were registered. Specifically, 174 suspects were detained for one-wheeling, with 155 cases recorded.

As many as 13 individuals were arrested for aerial firing, and seven for kite flying, leading to 19 cases. The crackdown followed orders from IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, who directed strict action against one-wheeling, aerial firing, and disorderly conduct on Independence Day.

City Traffic Police Lahore issued over 7,000 tickets and registered 60 FIRs for one-wheeling, hooliganism, and rash driving. Additionally, more than 4,000 challans were issued for underage driving, and over 1,200 for tripping violations.

To enforce these measures, over 3,000 wardens were deployed throughout the city.
