Mother of three murdered by husband, brother-in-law

KARACHI:

A young mother of three was brutally slaughtered allegedly by her husband and brother-in-law in the Wazir Brohi Goth area of SITE Superhighway Industrial Area, police said on Thursday. The alleged murderers fled the scene with gold ornaments, cash, and the three children of the victim.

The victim, identified as 32-year-old Zahida, wife of Abdul Ghaffar Mehr, was found dead at her home near Ali Akbar Masjid in Wazir Brohi Goth. She had been slaughtered with the help of a knife and a screwdriver, Noor Ahmad Sheikh, SHO of SITE police station, told The Express Tribune. Zahida, who hailed from Jacobabad, was a house help and mother of three.

After being alerted about the gruesome discovery, police reached the spot and shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal procedures.

According to SHO Sheikh, Zahida was murdered by her husband Abdul Ghaffar Mehr and her brother-in-law Zameer apparently over a financial dispute. Zahida had recently received a sum of Rs100,000 as her share from a group saving scheme locally called "Committee" and purchased a house in Wazir Brohi Goth.

She requested her brother-in-law Zameer, who had borrowed money from her, to repay the debt because she needed funds for the house purchase. Zameer came from Jacobabad and, after a heated argument late on August 10, he and Abdul Ghaffar Mehr slaughtered Zahida before fleeing with the cash, jewelry, and the three children of the victim.
