Child killed while playing with pistol

DIJKOT:

An eight-year-old girl died after a loaded pistol went off while she was playing with it.

The police took the body into possession and handed it over to the family after completing legal formalities.

The area police also registered a case against a cousin of the victim.

A resident of the 208RB area, Ehsanullah, told the Madina Town police that his nephew Muhammad Jameel had loaded his 30-bore pistol and kept it in a drawer at home. The pistol was picked up by the complainant's eight-year-old daughter Aisha Iman who started playing with it.

However, she was hit by a bullet and severely injured. The girl was taken to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The police registered a case under Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Earlier on April 23, a seven-year-old child died of a bullet wound suffered while playing with a pistol lying in his home. The deceased, Ibrahim, a resident of Samundri, was playing with the pistol when he turned it towards his face and pressed the trigger. The child died on the spot when the bullet hit his head.
