YouTuber Luke Goodwin dies after battling cancer
Luke Goodwin, a 35-year-old YouTuber from Grimsby, passed away from cancer on August 2, surrounded by his family at home.
Diagnosed with stage four Leiomyosarcoma in August 2022, a rare cancer affecting smooth muscles and representing just 0.17% of all cancer cases, Luke was given only a year to live. Despite this prognosis, he bravely surpassed expectations, enduring multiple rounds of chemotherapy and outliving his initial 12-month life expectancy.
Luke's wife, Beckey, described him as a "warrior" and "hero," and shared that he remained positive and strong throughout his battle. Just three weeks before his death, Luke lightheartedly told his YouTube followers, "I'm still alive and kicking," despite his deteriorating health. He documented his journey on his YouTube channel, @iwillnotbedefeated, where he provided updates on his condition and shared his determination to stay strong.
In his final video, posted on July 18, Luke candidly discussed his worsening symptoms, including difficulty breathing and extreme fatigue. He mentioned using an oxygen machine and spending days in bed but remained defiant, stating, "I will not be defeated."
