During the ongoing trial of rapper Young Thug and the alleged YSL criminal gang, rapper Lil' Woody, whose legal name is Kenneth Copeland, took the stand and admitted to lying to police and participating in a 2014 shooting.

The confession came after Copeland had previously denied any involvement in the September 2014 incident.

Copeland, who many believe had previously worked with law enforcement as an informant against Young Thug and the alleged YSL gang, testified that he had repeatedly lied to police to avoid trouble, claiming, "I have lied, I made things up...to get them off me, I said, 'Thug did this, Thug did that.'"

On August 12, despite expressing reluctance to testify, Copeland revealed his role in a barbershop shooting in 2014, where he and a friend shot into a shop owned by the father of rapper Rich Homie Quan.

The shooting left Corey Lamar, Quan's father, hospitalized, with Copeland stating that the act was intended "to send a message."

The trial of Young Thug, real name Jeffrey Williams, is the longest-running criminal trial in Georgia’s history, having started in November 2023.

Prosecutors argue that Williams violated Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, with charges including racketeering conspiracy, criminal street gang activity, and various drug and gun offenses.

If found guilty, Williams and his co-defendants face prison sentences ranging from five to 20 years.
