Police in Karachi's Quaidabad have arrested a suspect involved in the fatal shooting of his 20-year-old friend following an altercation.
The arrest was made during a raid at Sherpao Colony Cemetery on Tuesday, where the police also recovered the murder weapon, a pistol, along with ammunition.
According to the police, the suspect, Bilal alias Mian, shot and killed his friend, Zakaria, on August 10, 2024, during a gathering at a house in the Swati Mohalla area of Landhi's Sherpao Colony.
The incident occurred after a heated argument between the two.
Bilal fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
At the crime scene, police found a 30-bore pistol shell, and initial investigations revealed that the house where the shooting took place was vacant, serving as a meeting spot for the victim and the suspect.
At the time of the incident, four to five other friends were also present. During the altercation, Bilal allegedly shot Zakaria in the head, resulting in his death.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing several individuals fleeing the scene after the shooting.
The victim, Zakaria, was a resident of the same neighborhood in Sherpao Colony, Landhi.
The Quaidabad Police registered a case, numbered 480/24, against Bilal alias Mian and other unidentified individuals under sections 302/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code for murder.
Additionally, a separate case, numbered 481/24, was filed under the Arms Act against the arrested suspect. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the crime.
A day earlier, a case was registered against the unknown armed accused in the incident of killing two people and injuring two close brothers at a guest house in Gulistan-e-Johar.
According to the details, a 25-year-old Abdus Salam son of Muhammad Saleem, 27-year-old Muhammad Nasir son of Muhammad Ashraf were killed and two brothers Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Asim were injured in house number B115 located in Gulistan-e-Johar Block 3A on last Saturday.
Following the incident, the police registered a charge sheet No. 24/652 against the unknown armed accused on the complaint of the injured Muhammad Asif under section 302 and 324.
