Two key spots in Pakistan's Test squad remain undecided ahead of the series against Bangladesh, which begins on August 21 in Rawalpindi.
The opening position opposite Abdullah Shafique and the final pacer slot are the two positions still up for grabs.
To determine the second opening batsman, Saim Ayub and Mohammad Huraira will both be given the opportunity to showcase their skills in a four-day match against Bangladesh A, starting August 13.
Their performances will be critical in securing the spot alongside Shafique.
In the pace attack, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah are expected to lead, but the third fast bowler’s position is contested between Mir Hamza and Mohammad Ali.
Both will have a chance to prove themselves in the Shaheens’ match before the final selection.
Pakistan’s probable Test XI:
Saim Ayub/Mohammad Huraira, Abdullah Shafique, Shan Masood (c), Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Agha Salman, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Khurram Shehzad, Mir Hamza/Mohammad Ali
