On Monday, Donald Trump had a lengthy and contentious interview with billionaire Elon Musk, touching on many of the former president's most controversial topics.

The interview, which aired on Musk's platform X, began poorly due to technical problems that initially blocked many users from viewing it.

Musk attributed the delay to a "massive" cyber-attack, although the exact cause of the glitch remained unclear.

After the interview began over 40 minutes late, Trump started by recounting the failed assassination attempt from last month at Musk’s request.

Despite previously stating he would only discuss the incident once at the Republican convention, Trump elaborated on his near-death experience at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, which he plans to revisit in October.

“It was a miracle. If I hadn’t turned my head, I would not be talking to you right now, as much as I like you,” Trump told Musk.

Trump then shifted to his standard anti-immigration stance, expressing concerns about “rough people” trying to enter the US through the Mexico border.

“These are people that are in jail for murder and all sorts of things, and they’re releasing them into our country,” Trump stated.

In-depth research has found no connection between immigration and increased crime rates.

Trump then criticized his opponent Kamala Harris, referring to her as the "border tsar" of the Biden administration, despite objections from Democratic officials and immigrant rights advocates regarding that description of her role.

He consistently derided Harris as a “radical” Democrat who had “destroyed” California during her time as the state's attorney general and then as its senator.

He oddly praised Harris for looking "beautiful" on the cover of Time magazine, comparing her to his wife, Melania, and pointing out that the image was a sketch.
