RAWALPINDI:

Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has predicted that a technocrat government will take control of the country by September 20.

Talking to reporters outside the Adiala Jail, the former interior minister claimed that the interview process for installing the technocrat setup has begun, adding PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif will not grant extension to anyone, while Shehbaz Sharif carries little influence.

The AML chief described the situation as dire, calling August 31 as an 'important day,' suggesting the government is preparing to leave.

Sheikh Rashid pointed out that he is facing 14 cases but he has not yet received challans. He requested the ISI DG to help recover valuables looted by the police from his home.

He said that police had taken away jewellery, watches and shoes. He said Rawalpindi and Islamabad police had committed unprecedented atrocities.

The veteran politician said he has not given any statement against PTI founder Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi, adding he has association only with an individual, not with the party.

"I have lost 40-kilogram weight," said the AML chief, adding, "I never thought that the men from Gate 4 will pick me." He appealed to the army chief to announce general amnesty.
