Chinese firm inks deal for water project

A contract was signed between the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Faisalabad and the China Machinery Engineering Consortium (CMEC) for the construction of Phase II of a surface water treatment plant. The agreement was signed by Project Director Saqib Raza on behalf of WASA and Company General Manager Wu Guang on behalf of CMEC.

Project Director Saqib Raza provided a briefing on the project, stating that Phase II would produce 25 million gallons of water per day, with an additional 5 million gallons per day coming from the expansion of Phase I. He mentioned that the project is set to commence on September 1, with a three-year completion timeline, funded by a 94 million Euro soft loan from AFD.

Wu Guang, General Manager of CMEC, expressed his excitement about starting the project, noting that his company has successfully completed 21 international projects in Pakistan.

The ceremony concluded with the exchange of memorandums of understanding and mutual congratulations.

Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Nayar Sheikh emphasised the importance of the Surface Water Treatment Plant Phase II project in ensuring the supply of clean drinking water to the citizens of Faisalabad.
