LAHORE:

Tests by the Punjab Forensic Science Agency have shown that there is no evidence of suicide by Sania Zehra who had been found hanging at her home in Multan.

The forensic report stated that there was no swelling in Sania's neck, and the dupatta used for the alleged hanging did not show any signs of elongation

According to the Chairperson of the Punjab Women Protection Authority, Hina Pervaiz Butt, the forensic tests have confirmed Sania Zahra's murder. Addressing a press conference, she said the era where murders could be disguised as suicide to avoid detection was over.

She said societal intolerance causes women to become victims of domestic violence. Virtual women's police stations are providing facilities to the victims in this regard.

She added that Sania Zahra's neck had a noose and the fact that she was hanged after being killed is evident. The exhumation of the body and the forensic report included the DNA tests of the woman's husband and mother-in-law. Despite being in police custody, the victim's husband, Ali Raza, was not willing to provide his DNA sample.

The suspect and his mother's polygraph tests have been conducted.

On July 9, the 20-year-old mother of two children had been found hanging in her bedroom. An FIR was registered on her father's complaint, alleging murder.
