Govt sets aside Rs100m secret fund for informers

KARACHI:

The Sindh government, on the request of the Department of Excise and Narcotics Control has approved a secret fund of Rs100 million for information network for the first time in the history.

The excise department had sent a summary to the Sindh chief minister in this regard on June 20. The CM gave nod and directed the department to submit the summary to the Cabinet which approved Rs100 million secret fund for the department for the current financial year.

The Cabinet meeting was briefed by the excise department that the department is making efforts to eradicate drug menace.

Police and anti-corruption have also been given secret funds.

Arrests will be made after receiving confidential information, which will help root out drug mafia. Narcotics Control Wing is headed by Director General Usman Ghani.
