Tana Mongeau, known for her outspoken online presence, has addressed the controversy surrounding her podcast co-host Brooke Schofield, following the resurfacing of several "racist" tweets. The tweets, dating from 2012 to 2015, have drawn widespread criticism after they went viral on August 3, 2024. The posts, which include a defense of George Zimmerman for the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin, have led to significant backlash against Schofield.

In response, Schofield issued an apology on TikTok, but many viewers continued to criticize her, calling the posts "racist" and "insensitive." Mongeau, in the latest episode of their podcast 'Cancelled,' addressed the issue while Schofield was noticeably absent.

Mongeau did not hold back, describing the resurfaced tweets as "f***ed up" and "horrific," and explicitly condemned Schofield's past actions. "I have no right to forgive her as a white person for the things that she said," Mongeau stated, revealing that she initially supported Schofield but quickly regretted it. "I’m going to beat myself up for that forever, quite frankly."

Mongeau emphasized the need for accountability, stating that it was "not enough" to dismiss the tweets as past mistakes, acknowledging that she herself still has "more growing" to do. She expressed hope that Schofield would take this time to reflect, grow, and learn, while also noting that Schofield’s behavior during their time on 'Cancelled' did not align with the resurfaced tweets.

To further demonstrate her commitment to learning and advocacy, Mongeau announced that she would donate the proceeds from the podcast episode and her TikTok creator fund to the Trayvon Martin Foundation.
