Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), in partnership with the Korean Program on International Agriculture, has launched a "Seed Potato Complex" to enhance local crop output in Islamabad.
This initiative, backed by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), aims to increase the yield of local potato crops through cutting-edge technology and innovative research.
A South Korean delegation, led by the Ambassador, met with Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, to discuss the significance of the Seed Potato Complex.
During the meeting, the Ambassador emphasized the crucial role of transferring modern agricultural technologies to Pakistan and the need to equip local farmers with the necessary skills to utilize these advancements effectively.
Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain addressed the historic and friendly relations between Pakistan and South Korea, highlighting the importance of further strengthening these ties through collaborative efforts, particularly in agriculture.
He noted that both nations are actively engaged in technology transfer projects that are poised to significantly enhance local agricultural production and contribute to the sector's overall development.
As part of this initiative, an "Aeroponic Greenhouse" has also been established within the complex. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to improve the quality of seed potatoes and support advanced agricultural research.
The use of aeroponics, a modern technique in agriculture, is expected to substantially increase crop yields.
This joint effort is not only anticipated to meet the nation’s food needs but also to play an important role in strengthening the country's economy.
